Mushroom Pâté

This mushroom pâté recipe is the perfect party appetiser . Your guests will love how delicious it is, and you’ll love how easy it is to make!

With all these rainy days, it makes for scratching around the house for things to do. I however have a thing for recipe books and recently discovered a few old Dutch homestead style mushroom recipes and I trust this Mushroom Pate recipe will be a party favourite for a while – even if it’s with the one you love…

Ingredients

  • 300g mushrooms
  • 2 big onions
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 125g butter/margarine
  • 250ml fresh bread crumbs
  • 125g cream cheese
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 50ml freshly chopped parsley
  • 10ml fresh/5ml dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  • Finely chop mushrooms, garlic and onions.
  • Adding margarine/butter to the pot, add above ingredients and fry stirring.
  • Fry till dry, add bread crumbs, stir and let it cool down.
  • Adding your cream cheese to the mix, blend all in the blender.
  • Dish out into container and refrigerate.
  • Or like me get the plain salted chips out and tuck in….
