
Ingredients
- 1kg calamari rings
- 300g plain flour
- 100g Mazina
- 200ml sparkling soda water
- 5 tbs chinese five spice
- 3 lemons
- 100ml Helmans mayonnaise
- 100g crushed garlic
- 2 lemons to garnish
- 1 bunch of chopped parsley
Method
- Mix the soda water mazina and chinese 7 spice together to form a batter.
- Set aside 200g of flour to dust the calamari in before dipping into the batter.
- Deep fry the calamari in hot oil till golden brown.
- Blend the 2 tsp of chinese spice into the mayonnaise with 2 tbls of finely chopped sushi ginger and crushed garlic.
- Plate with some lemons and serve
